Street Lighting, Traffic Sign and Traffic Signal Installation
We were awarded the contract in October 2017 by Hochtief to supply and install approximately 120 new street lighting columns and 80 traffic signs, including all associated groundworks, including 3.5km ducting 5km cable. Half way into the contract period we were also asked to carry out the groundworks and civils for the traffic signal installation.
Working to tight timescales, Altitude quickly mobilised and identified key supply chain partners. Due to the programme constraints associated with the works, a collaborative approach between all parties was crucial to identify and mitigate project risks at the earliest stage.
Working with Lancashire County Council
Altitude’s existing relationship with the Client, Lancashire County Council was hugely beneficial, as we were collaborating throughout with them to overcome the design issues that presented themselves throughout the construction period.
Another of the challenges we faced was that the designed location of the feeder pillars was not practicable, so our site team led by Scott Bradley liaised directly with Electricity North West’s diversion team to successfully resolve the issue.
The street lighting and traffic signs element was fully installed, tested and commissioned in time for the grand opening of the road in October 2017. The project was hailed as a great success, and was a good opportunity to showcase our core business skills and collaborative approach.
On completion of the project, Graham Leathard, Lancashire County Council’s Project Manager commented:
‘I just wanted to thank you for all your help on the scheme. Your proactive and co-operative approach to sorting out problems and your willingness to discuss issues with both our electrical team and our site team has been greatly appreciated and has helped in getting the lighting and electrical works completed with minimum delay. I would certainly recommend Altitude for any future works for LCC.’Graham Leathard
